itraconazole
« on: January 03, 2012, 03:20:50 PM »

Hello all. My dog just started treatment almost a week ago and he is very, very tired. He just sleeps constantly, eats and poops. Although when it's time to go out, he doesn't want to come back in. He loves walks but I don't want him to use up all of his energy outside. Is anyone else who has a dog on this medicine experiencing the same? He used to have a ton of energy and it's hard to see him sleep all day. Thank you very much.

Sorry to hear about your dog! It is very common for dogs to get worse before they get better when they start treatment. Keep them eating with any food you can.

Zeke was diagnosed with Blasto on Sept 9th . He has been on Sporonox since then, 200 mg to start then we reduced it to 150 mg when he lost so much weight but we are now back to 200 mg a day. Just lately have we seen a real increase in his energy levels. He wants to swim and he wants to play.  Still nothing like before but compared to what he was like six weeks ago this is a HUGE improvement.  We still follow up the sporonox pills with some buttermilk.  In our case Zeke got much worse before he got better and we are so glad we stuck with him.  We just sent his second Mira Vista sample in today and are hoping to get a reading this time, but know it could still be another few months.
Don't give up and make sure you read the forum - it is a wealth of information.  Keep him eating!
