Human Mortality from Blasto

Does anyone have any statistics on the number of humans who contract blasto in a given year and how many die from it, especially in Wisconsin?

I have Blasto, and I did alot of research recently.  Left untreated, Blastomycosis has a very high mortality rate.  The antifungal medications, however, WORK, and the success rate for taking these drugs and recovering from this disease is very good....something like 96%.

Yes!!  I have tried.  I contacted 5 or 6 high-profile law firms, and every one had the same answer:  that in Wisconsin, jurys will side with doctors in this type of case.  They have told me that, since I am not permanently disabled, and can still work my job, etc, that I would not win.  In my case, I was told that I had a lung rumor that needed to come out immediately.  I even ASKED about a biopsy but the surgeon said I didn't need one...and that he would test the tumor for malignancy when he got in there.  If malignant, he would take out the whole lobe.  If not, he would just cut out the tumor.  Well, when he got in there he did not test, he just cut out the whole lower lobe of my left lung.  Found out a few days later it was Blasto, and that the surgery never should have happened.  Also gound out (after the fact) that the radiologist had recommended biopsy and other further testing, and the surgeon ignored it and did not give me any other options.

Do you have a case?  would you mind telling me about it?

Since my husband passed away from blasto after being in the hospital for nine months, everyone was telling me to ursue action against the pulmonologist who misdiagnosed five months previous - even after reviewing three CT scans - In fact, put him on heavy doses of steroids which just accerbated the whole problem.  Before passing away, my husband had his spleen removed, brain bioopsy, gall bladder removed, a colostomy and numerous other indignities.  Was on a respirator for seven months.  Finally got off and had just starated to eat and talk again when he got a serious infection, put pack on respirator and passed away a month and a half later.  Needless to say, medical bills were astronomical (luckily had pretty good insurance) - but short term disability ran out and it got tough. 

A lawyer here said he would review the case if I provided him with all doctor and hospital records.  That would encompass five hospitals and man doctors - his medical records are probably six feet high - to pay for copies of all of this just so an attorney can review seems pointless - that is why I wondered if anyone had ever been successful in a wrongful death suit because of misdiagnosis????

Personally, if I were you I would too. Good luck and please keep us informed about your daughter's baby and her health.  The more info we post here the more it helps others.

Has anyone  contacted blasto from their animal? I.e. before Francie's diagnosis  had been cleaning her wounds three times a day for at least a month and a half without gloves etc. Perhaps it makes good sense to get the urine test for myself and other owners?

wilson had open lesions and we never cought anything
i have not heard of anyone either
my vet did say though to make sure to wash you hands very good after cleaning
i did read also the the chances of getting it are VERY LOW from your pet
