New to this board - Stepping off of Itraconozole
« on: October 10, 2008, 11:30:47 AM »

Hello everyone.

10 months ago, I never heard of Blastomycosis.  That seems to be a standard statement around here.
I am thankful for this board.  My wife sent this link to me for more information.

I spent some time today to enter my case in the database (Tracy_Human_USA) if you are interested in reading it.

Recently, I have been having a cold, which is kind of how this started a year ago, but this time, no blood in the sputem.  I have been on Anti-Fungal medication since January and am now off (as of last week when I ran out).

Today (October 2008), I go in to see my Primary Physician for standard follow up.  They took an Xray last week and I am no longer on my Fungal Medication.
My cholestroel is high and I can't be on both.  Have not been on my Chol. Meds since January.  But am fearful of a second relapse of Blasto.

The scary thing was that we never really did come to a conclusion as to where I contracted Blasto, and without my medication, I feel like I am entering this fungus world with out my shields. LOL.

So far, my Xrays have been clean and I hope this one is the same.

Hi I had blasto in 1999/ 2000. My story too is posted on here. As you not knowing where you got the blasto, you may never know. Fungas is airborn and breathed in. As with me we figure just from walking in the woods near my cottage the fungas gases became airborn and I inhaled it. It was never really found where i contracted it. Also the earth burps in different places at different times and thus we can never always know. The air bubbles in water/lakes are gases from the bottom of the lake. In most cases as I have been told by specialist is that most people inhale the gases but because they are healthy they will never get blastomycosis. In my case I was enemic at the time and could not fight the gases. The health unit and infectuous desease specialist did sample at my home and cottage and didn't find anything. Hope this helps.
