 Progressive Retinal Atrophy  (PRA)

or have or had a dog that had it??
i am just wondering how long it takes before they go blind?
I have read about it but would like to hear from someone that actually delt with it.
Yes Wilson has it...but he is NOT going blind as fast as they/internet seems to think or say
(i also found out aussies are pron to this) did not know this
anyways he is doing great and dealing with it wonderfully ( I think he just has selective vision /sees only when he wants to )

I was toldlast yr. he had this
From all the reading I did on it  he should be blind buy now. And really only at night I can notice
So he is lucky it is taking longer for him
He is still the alpha dog and goes about as normal

Sorry to hear about Wilson's PRA.  Does this have any connection to the blasto?  You posted a wonderful article about living with a blind dog back when I was worried that Mika would be fully blind (one eye is compltely useless and the other has diminished sight according to vet).  You'll have some itneresting walks with Darla and WIlson.  Again, just as others have said, they are SO LUCKY to have you.  We need to clone you, Kristin, because we need more of your heart in this world.

No nothing to do with blasto they are born with it ,his parents must have had it.
The werid thing is everything I have read and heard once it starts to show up 6 months and they are blind
I know diet can help slow it down or he is just fooling me very well
He is very guardy(not in a mean way just alerting us) and knows when anything is around at night when the other 2 only if we all see it. But Wilson is the alpha and I just figured it was his job to know what was all out there at night . To sence what we can not ,don't know.
The past yr. I have had some issues and Wilson seems to have changed roles with me... always worring about me and never leaves my side.
