I am so very sorry for what you are going through - I lost my Zoe almost 2 years ago.  I asked her to welcome Charlie as he crosses over the Rainbow Bridge.  Hopefully they can play together until we meet them again.

Another site that helped me as I was grieving was petloss.com.  In these coming days try to think of the Charlie that was not sick - don't let this disease take over the wonderful memories you have of your baby.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry Nicole. I know you loved Charlie with all your heart. Like Wendy said, Keep your memories of Charlie as he was when he was well. A loss like this is very hard and it is normal for you to grieve in your own way. Cry cry and cry more, whatever it takes to help you. Just know that Charlie will be waiting for you...

Hugs

I'm sorry this had to happen to you and your family, Nicole.  We know you tried very hard and did all the right things for Charlie.  Even so, as you well know, not all dogs survive despite the best care.  No words can damp the pain you're feeling.  I'm sorry to say that not even time will take away the pain.  But I can say that with time, you'll recall more sweet memories than painful ones.  Console yourself with the fact that you did do everything you could have.  Trust us, we know you did.  That's not much to ease your pain, but it's a little and it's a start.

During this time of grief, take a little time and find some pictures of Charlie and recall the good times you had.  I can say one thing for sure, Charlie would want you to do this.  He wouldn't want you to only feel bad.  If you want to, you can come here and tell us some of the good times, some of the goofy times you and Charlie had.  We'd be happy to hear them.

Request from Rainbow Bridge

Weep not for me though I am gone; into that gentle night. Grieve if you will but not for long, upon my soul's sweet flight. I am at peace, my soul's at rest. There is no need for tears. For with your love I was blessed; for all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now all is gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts. In your memory I live on. Remember not my fight for breath; remember not the strife. Please do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life.

Dear Nicole,

So sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet Charlie. How lucky he was to have you to love and care for him and to try to save him from this nasty disease. I know that he will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

With my deepest sympathy,

Deb

Hello Nicole,

So very, very sorry to read about your sweet Charlie.  Sounds as if you both fought the good fight but we all have to face going into it, it is not always successful.  When I lose pet family members, I find great solace writing them a letter (through the tears) to tell them what I so loved about them.  We have a "pet memorial walk" on our land where each pet is buried (one rabbit, two cats, three dogs).  Every morning, Hale Bopp, Mika and I walk by their graves and the dogs are respectful while I talk to our departed ones.  It helps.  I love the advice to keep the picture in your mind of Charlie at his best and to feel so good about the good life you gave him for as long as he had.
