What new treatment are you referring to? I would most definitely continue putting the eye drops in until you and your vet discuss any new treatment that would require you stopping the current drops. What drops are you using? I know on your other post you said that he was giving you some trouble lately when it came to the drops. I am soooo happy to hear though that he has been eating well (great sign), gained some weight, and little coughing.

the one they tried in canada on the horses and a couple dogs.. luvmyjacks put it on here about the treatment. they inject voranconazole behind the eyes into the eye pocket and follow it up with a steroid injection.. then do it again in 10 days. the drops hes been gettin is just some cleansing solution and some ointment to dialate his eyes so things can drain out of em.

Are you working with an eye doctor or just your regular vet? When Marge lost her sight we thought we could give that eye treatment a shot and we printed everything off and asked our vet to call the doctor in Canada which she did but since Marges retina was fully detached there was no saving it. Did your vet tell you if the retina is detached yet? Are you using the itraconazole eye drops also?

A suggestion for you that may help too...start making a list with all of your questions/concerns. i did that on more than one occasion when I went to vet visits with Gunner. I would ask each one and write the answer down behind it so I could review everything when I got home. We cant remember everything and I know that I was always by myself at vet visits and was an emotional mess. You really really need to get a handle on what is going on with your dogs eyes. If he is blind he will still thrive when he adjusts but if there is something you can do to save his sight you would certainly do that I'm sure. You really need to know for sure if his retinas are detached and then you can go from there. I know I have read about a dogs eye rupturing and my dog had buldging from all the pressure. You have to get your dog to an eye specialist asap and not mess around with this at all. Tackle one thing at a time...from what I have read you dont know for sure at this point if there is retina detachment so focus on that and go from there.  I'm not trying to be harsh but your dogs sight is nothing to research on your own and try to figure out what is going on-get an appointment made today for the eye specialist.  Best of luck with your vet appt today.

thanks. gave me some sporonox??? ointment to put in them until appt. is made with eye specialist. his lungs have cleared up a TON and he has gained even more weight. doc says only thing now is eyes. is it possible the reason they are cloudin up is the dead fungus has moved there trying to exit the body and it can go away and vision will come back?

Mika's eye did not get cloudy, just big.  It is normal size and color now.  Good luck with this.

It is great to hear that weight has been gained and his lungs have cleared. What is your dogs name? Marge's eye did get very cloudy. It was almost a blackish blue tinted cloud. What happened next was the eye became all black and you can now see the color of her iris (brown) breaking up and depositing itself in the white of her eye. I have a picture at home of Marge's eye like that black blue color. Once I get home I will post it. I was going to post a pic of Marge now but she has such droopy st bernard eyes that you cannot tell a difference between her good eye and blind eye. I will snap a pic of it when I get home and post both. Nobody even knows that Marge is blind in that eye because it looks "normal". Maybe Gunners mom can post a pic of Gunners blind eyes so you can get an idea.

The 2 below pictures are while Marge was sick and her eye was going blind. The eye that went blind is the one that is on our right, her left.

This is what Marge's eye looks like now:
