So, so very sorry to hear the news about Junior.  You've been a great contributor to this forum and obviously a very great care taker of Junior.  I love the pictures in my head of you spending hours in Central Park with Junior and how much Junior loved that.  I used to live in NYC (CPW) and, although dogless myself at that time, would watch folks with their dogs having fun in that grand dame of a park.  I trust you have lots of pictures, at least in your head and your heart, pictures you can pull out to remind you of all the good times with Junior.  Junior is lucky to have someone such as you; you have been fortunate to have Junior.
In peace, Carol

  • Winter - miss you....

Hi Philip

So sorry that you are going through the process of trying to find out what is wrong with Junior. Sometimes the cancer sets in so quickly that we are amazed after looking at "clean" xrays just weeks before.  Glad that you found this site to rule out Blasto which is a nasty disease.  Hope that Junior is doing ok and that you are coping. It is so hard.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Be glad that you are doing everything you can to help Junior - you can feel good in your heart that your are doing all that you can and I know that Junior loves you and appreciates this.

Let us know how you guys are doing.

thank you Deb

last week was hard - junior collapsed tuesday night, but then was ok.  we took him in for a blood transfusion because he has become so anemic very quickly and recently.  he then started on an FDA approved drug for dogs called Palladia - which is a targeted therapy being used for various cancers in dogs. it typically does not have significant side effects...so far he has tolerated it well and is eating well.  we'll see if the drug can slow down the progression of the disease and thus improve the anemia - so that he can regain some strength...trying to do whats best for him... but not always sure....will keep everyone posted..thanks again for everyone's positive thoughts.
